Binggou Gr
Type Locality and Naming
East-central Qinghai (South margin of Qaidam Basin). The Binggou Gr was named by the No.111 Geological Party of the Petroleum Management Bureau, Qinghai Province in 1959. The type locality is Binggou gully, Dulan County, Qinghai Province.
Synonym: (冰沟群)
Lithology and Thickness
The group is a set of slightly metamorphosed magnesian carbonate rock strata, mainly of siliceous-banded dolomite, crystalline limestone intercalated with siltstone, slate, with locally intermediate-basic volcanic rock. The Binggou Gr is rich in stromatolites and microplants. The formation is 6000 m thick
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It is disconformably underlain by the Xiaomiao Gr of Changchengian.
Upper contact
It is in unconformable contact with Qiujidonggou Gr of Neoproterozoic
Regional extent
East-central Qinghai (South margin of Qaidam Basin). The group is distributed mainly in the south margin of Qaidam Basin.
